Road Reporter App Safely Gets You Where You’re Going

Beep! Beep! Your alarm clock fires like a starter’s pistol, sending you on a half sprint half marathon through the morning routine. You drag yourself out of bed, wake the kids, shower then wake them again. While you make coffee, fix breakfast, and pack lunches the cat stands at her empty dish and stares daggers at you. You think about morning workouts (who has the time?) as you burn your mouth on your first sip of coffee, sign permissions slips, and double check to make sure you’re not wearing your pants inside out again. And while you rush everyone out the door and into their day you try to glance over your shoulder at the weather and traffic thinking about how you sat in gridlock yesterday while your boss did your performance review without you.

You have your morning routine timed to the last second, and any misstep in this intricate dance and you’ll be running late faster than your kids can call, “Shotgun!” on the way to the car.

An Easier Way to Get Where You’re Going

The AMA Road Reporter app is a morning saver miracle packed in a smart phone. AMARoadReports.ca is a great resource for helping you plan your trip, but isn’t meant for use once you start driving. Distracted driving is against the law after all, and we want all Albertans to stay safe behind the wheel. That’s why we built our new Road Reporter app to be 100% distracted driving compliant—the app is designed to give you information by audio, so you don’t have to interact with your phone while driving.

The app also gives you the best of both worlds: AMA’s trusted and time-tested Road Reports data combined with live social information created in real time. Made in Alberta for Albertans, Road Reporter gives you real-time road condition and traffic congestion reporting to get you where you’re going safely and on time.

Distraction Free Route Updates

More than just a trip-planning tool, the Road Reporter app is a commuter tool, providing live updates on traffic, construction, and collisions, all while keeping your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.

That’s because the app talks to you (but it won’t talk back to you like your teenager or partner). It actually listens to you if you see something along the way (see, you’re not invisible), and connects you to other drivers around you (can you feel the warm communal hug?). It’s like one big perfect family of sheet metal, just like the movie Cars.

It just takes a few minutes to set up your routes, like home, work, the gym, or your kids’ school, before you get behind the wheel to start driving, of course. Once set, the app does all the work for you. It will let you know 15 minutes before you leave if the route is clear. And once you’re on the road it updates you about collisions, lane closures, and traffic back-ups. Like a trusted co-pilot the app will even provide an alternate route to help keep you moving.

Community Based Reporting

As our roads become busier, driving is becoming a team sport. We have to watch each other’s backs, and the Road Reporter app is your word on the street.

Data compiled from other drivers lets you stay on top of what’s happening on the roads you drive most often. And if you get caught up in an incident, you can share that out so other drivers don’t get stuck in the same traffic jam you’re in. It’s just the neighbourly thing to do.
